In case anyone thought it was a joke, Philadelphia really did put Crisco on their lampposts to keep people from climbing them, and the city has also learned two things in the process:
- If determined enough, people will still climb lampposts, no matter what slippery substance you coat them with.
- Crisco is in fact not water soluble- fortunately I think it’s also stable enough that while America’s favorite lard product has not washed off after multiple rain and snowstorms, it is also not producing a rancid odor. So we have that going for us.
