Techniques: All About Timing

It’s something that is sort of implied when we talk about techniques, but terribly important. It’s something I didn’t even think to talk about until I noticed one of our lower belts having an issue with it: timing. You may have the best sweeps in your academy, but you need to become aware of the right time to execute them. It’s something you start to pick up while drilling, and then (typically) hone in on when training.

Next time you train, think about your timing: are you trying to go for a submission too early? Too late? Or are you trying to make a technique happen that just isn’t there at that time (it’s ok, we’ve all done it).

Just my thought for the day. Have a great day everyone!
