Interesting Article on the Growth (or Lack Thereof) of Jiu Jitsu Interest

Bishop BJJ has an interesting article regarding the the plateau of interest in jiu jitsu among internet users. While I’m not typically a numbers person, taking a look at trends and behaviors does interest me.

In the article the author states that jiu jitsu really hasn’t seen much growth in interest on the internet in the past 10 years, nor do they expect an explosion of interest in the art and sport anytime in the near future.

Personally, I think this is a good thing- which sounds odd, but hear me out: jiu jitsu, in terms of martial arts, is still relatively new to the game. The growth of jiu jitsu interest is stable: it’s not rising, but not really falling either, as a trend for a fad might. To me, this stability shows that jiu jitsu is becoming considered more of a mainstream sport or martial art, and something people are researching because they are genuinely interested in learning the sport, not just because it’s popular and people want to jump on the bandwagon. That’s how I choose to interpret the data: what do you think?

Let me know- otherwise, have a great day everyone!
