Let’s be honest: there are just some days where you feel like you’re doing awesome, like you’re really progressing…And then there are those days where you feel like you suck: particularly when you are trying something new. It can be a frustrating experience, one where you are tempted to hang your head on your way out the door and maybe even attempt to give your current rank back.
First of all, don’t try to give your belt back- that’s just silly. Second of all, days like those require an attitude adjustment. We all had to crawl before walking, which lead to running, etc. We have to start from somewhere. Sure, it can suck big time especially when we feel like we should do better- you feel as a competent, fairly intelligent human being you should pick up on this particular technique that is appears (deceptively) simple. But truth of the matter is that what you are attempting is more complicated and requires more time, practice and focus. Or maybe even the same technique but it needs to be approached in a different manner.
So, don’t be discouraged: you may feel like you are fumbling through, but everyone has to start somewhere, and even when you progress along there are times where you are tripped up now and again, and need to take a different approach.
