Metamoris 4 Review: Better, but Still a Long Way to Go

This past weekend Metamoris held its 4th event this past weekend. While the organization does appear to be improving, there are definitely some areas in which they need to work on.

First and foremost, the mat. Guys, why was the Metamoris logo rubbing off onto competitors’ clothing? Hopefully this was just a one time snafu, but I would strongly recommend never using the company who produced this ever again.

Second, the same graphics in between each match. I totally understand that it was probably more cost effective, since all they did was take the background stories/trailers leading up to the event and re-aired them before the match, but next time I would suggest paying a little extra and getting some different graphics for the event itself. Just saying.

The matches were good- there’s really no way to win with this event though: no one wants a draw, but we don’t want points, etc. There has to be some sort of compromise, like a dwindling purse as time counts down or something.

Again, overall the event was good: I would have liked to see more gi matches, and I think the “secret match” was a little unnecessary, but whatever.

What did you all think? Let me know- otherwise have a great day everyone!

I also was hoping to see more gi matches. But honestly, there weren’t too many times that I was tempted to “fast forward”. I thought it was fun to watch. I don’t really think that there’s much that can be done with the lack of submissions. These guys are the best of the best at both attacking and defending.

Would like to see less lop-sidedness in terms of size between the competitors. Also more gi matches and get more of the current crop of elite ibjjf competitors involved.
