Ah, warm weather. How I’ve missed you.
Hope everyone’s having a lovely Friday- if it’s warm and sunny in your area, make sure to go outside at least for a minute and enjoy it!

I’m slowly coming to terms with the retirement of google reader in July. In response, I’ve been playing around with different RSS feed services to see what’s available.
NewsBlur: It’s aesthetically pleasing, but with a 64 subscription limit and a “premium” option, which I get the impression I’ll be hounded to upgrade to, this is pretty low on my list.
The Old Reader: it was cool until I imported all of my blog subscriptions and it said I had 1300+ posts to read, which was very not true. Also, it’s still in the beta stages, and there’s no mobile app. Sad face.
Feedly- so far ahead in the race for my affections, and attention. It easily synced up with my google reader, and even noted which posts I had already read for much more manageable number of 20. It also has a mobile app. Sweet! I have messing with the mobile app and it’s fairly easy to use- instead of a feed though it has pages or cards listing the posts you haven’t read yet, which I’m not entirely sure I like.
I’m sure there are a ton more out there, but hopefully this will give the few and the proud Google Reader users a head start on trying something else before the service is taken out for good in July :-/

Happy Friday guys! Not gonna to lie internet, this hasn’t been a great week. Just stupid, frustrating situation one after the other presenting themselves in a row this week; they will all be resolved one way or another, it’s just a pain to deal with now. For now, I’m just breathing deeply and working to solve each problem as they arise.
Hopefully you all have had a better week, and even if you haven’t, just remember every morning is a new opportunity; for issues to be resolved, for the situation to change, to work out a problem that has been bothering you.
And, because I can, I’m going to show you what is currently one of my favorite images I found on the internet. He’s so adorable!

So a couple of months ago I promoted using the site 750words.com. I don’t know if anyone took me up on this recommendation, but if you were thinking about it, just letting you know they are going to start charging for the use of the site. I totally understand why they are doing it, and I would still recommend using the site, but if you are also like me and would like to use those funds towards other things in your life, then the only other thing I would suggest, would be to sign up for something like penzu.com: it’s a free format like 750 words was, offers to email you reminders to write, and it comes with a “pro” option at about $20/year. I like 750 word’s simple design and word counter, but you really can’t beat 20 dollars a year.
Oh, also if anyone is interested in keeping up with their own writing, there’s another option for you.

There’s a new lady BJJ blogger and fellow RJJA member, Meghan! She talks about being a med student and training jiu jitsu.
Check out her site!

This has little to do with Jiu jitsu, and everything with writing: for anyone that has been having trouble staying consistent on the creative writing side of things, I have been trying out a site called 750words.com. You just write whatever comes up, put it down and the site saves it for you. It will also tracked how many times you became distracted from the site and went somewhere else, how quickly you wrote those pages, and has a think with what words you used the most often and compare them to a site average.
Check it out!

So the biggest things I want to work on this upcoming year is a 20 in 20 project….I hope that’s what it’s called…
Mainly, I really want to get into the habit of creative writing. I mentioned before it relaxes me, and it’s something that I really want to do more, but right now I’m pretty darn inconsistent with it.
So, I’m thinking I will write a short story a week, or a scene for some pieces longer I have (inconsistently) been working on, for 20 weeks. I’m tempted to put everything onto my little creative writing blog I set up, but turning it into an invite only blog: which I know is lame, but I fear the quality will be…sub par, to put it lightly. Which is a little scary to consider. But, I’m looking for quantity over quality at this point: to get into the habit of writing and just putting it out there, not just waiting for a good idea to come along.
Oh, and butterfly guard. And this thing where I lead with my head when I do a knee cross, which gives my opponent an opportunity to block me. And firma sweeps. See, I still snuck some jiu jitsu in there.
Do you have any goals for 2013?

I’ll be heading out of state in a couple of hours, and while I always bring my laptop with me, to be perfectly honest I rarely use it. I tend to be all about spending time with family and using technology as little as possible.
I’m odd, I know. It’s the endearing sort though.
Everyone have a great holiday, or hell, just a lovely Monday and Tuesday.
See you all in a couple of days!

Hey, I don’t have that much time to write a post today, but I just want to wish everyone a great day: work hard, play hard, train hard and have a good weekend!

So I am attempting to be more Social Media Savvy, and have put a profile specifically for my blog on Google Plus! yay!
Add me to your circle…or whatever people do on that site anymore. I’m going to give this a try and see how it goes.
