I find myself more and more apologizing to friends for not making it to certain events: parties they throw, bars they visit, theatre shows they direct (hey Jess!).
I keep telling myself that at some point I am going to take a breather from jiu jitsu and go maybe twice a week, trying some baking recipes that I stare longingly over, hang out with friends that I haven’t seen in forever and only know what is going on in their lives solely through social media…You know, make sure that I don’t lose touch with the “outside world” so to speak.
But that day has yet to come, because I realized for me jiu jitsu has become such a part of my routine that it’s like brushing your teeth or getting that morning coffee. Everything feels thrown off if you don’t have that consistency in your schedule. It’s kind of funny, and a little complicated at times when putting a schedule together, but it has become ingrained in my routine, and not all that easy to change.
Someday I’ll take a breather. It probably won’t happen anytime in the too near future, though.
