This is going to sound pretty funny coming from me, but I’m putting it out there.
I hate bad writing.
I say this is funny due to all the times I have just rambled on this blog, calling things the wrong name, or left certain key words out of sentences. But, I still stand by my statement: everyone that has an opinion is not always entitled to write it down and broadcast said opinion to the world.
I like to think of story telling as the painting of a picture, whether the story is an epic fantasy tale, an opinion piece on current events or even on how to set the timer on your VCR (or dvd player, now, I guess). It’s like the movie Inception: you are the architect and creating a ‘world’ for a reader to experience. Readers can look past small grammatical errors, of course, we’re all human, but serious errors in spelling and syntax create flaws in the world you are striving to build and the structure cannot, will not stand on its own against the scrutiny of a third party.
I know this may seem completely out of the blue, but I read an article regarding MMA that was just so bad that I had to say something. I had to skip the entire first paragraph just for the damn thing to make sense. It was just….terrible. I also say this is funny to mention because as previously mentioned I have mistakes and I am sure there are posts that barely make any sense, but also this is a little blog tucked away in some corner of the vast network that is “the internet” and I do this for fun, on the side. This article was posted in a large, well known publication, which would make it same to assume the writer does this for a living.
Essentially, someone is paying for atrocious writing. And that, my friends, makes me one sad panda.
