Drop it Like It’s Hot…Or a Tsurikomi Goshi

Last night we worked on a new throw, the Tsurikomi goshi. It’s kind of interesting because you have to almost drop, and then spring back up, wheeling the person over your head. I keep on trying to relate it to jiu jitsu competition, and unless I somehow suddenly became a kick-ass Master at this technique, I see the person latching onto my back and making me regret my decision. Like most throws, if not all, it will take time, practice, and lots and lots of mistakes and tweaks.

But man, how badass would it be, to pull that out in a jiu jitsu, or a judo competition. Sure, for judo it would be cool, but I would hope a portion of the reaction to that kind of throw at a jiu jitsu tournament would be, “what the shit was that shit?!”

That would be pretty awesome.
