I know I have mentioned it here before, but whenever we only have ladies in our Judo class, I like to call it the “Bad-Ass Bitches” Judo Class. Last night was another one of those classes, with our instructor John and two other ladies. I’m thinking people were wiped from Sunday’s team training and decided to take Monday off. I seemed to have turned that little piece of my brain off that would think that taking the day off would be a good idea, and all.
In kettlebells we did a double bell workout, which included the rarely seen (well, rarely to me) static clean, which was a fun variation. The class was a good combo of upper and bottom moves.
We worked on some different escapes in Jiu Jitsu class, going back to basics, and John added a little extra move at the end as a teaser for what we will be doing on Wednesday. Training went all right, I was still kind of in a funk from earlier in the day, but tried to put it behind me as I trained.
I’m blaming a possible cold, or the abrupt change in weather messing with my system.
Anyway, the class then whittled down to the strong, determined and awesomely stubborn. And other than our instructor, we were all female. Go team!
We did a lot of uchikomi’s of different throws, and I worked on my footwork for the Tai Otoshi. When I try to throw it, I tend to overcompensate with one step, more of a corkscrew that I am familiar with in the Harai Goshi, but that doesn’t work so well in a non-hip throw setting.
All in all it was a good training, and we proved yet again that the women in our Academy are tough, and pretty awesome.
Damn straight.
