The Training Gauntlet

Holy Crap I’m tired.

The past couple of days have been good, just very tiring. It’s been a lot of training, a lot of stand up, ground work, submissions, conditioning: basically you name it, we’ve been doing it.

It’s all been great training, it’s just gotten to the point where I should/need to take tonight off so I don’t, you know, die.

Sunday was team training for 2 hours, and last night was kettlebells, then Jiu Jitsu and finished with Judo, which I sparred in all the matches without any pain in my elbow (yay!) although if we had sparred for one more match, I would have been dangerously close to having a return visit of my lunch. Ick.

One thing that was awesome last night was during class, where we went over different passes for the guard. I thought it was pretty awesome because they were variations to the standing pass, and something I had not seen before.

Training went well, I was able to work with different levels of skill and different weights/body types. It’s hard to anticipate every kind of person you will encounter on the mat, but the more people you train with, the better, so at the very least you understand where you feel the most comfortable when encountering people close to the same type and weight.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to crawl under my desk and attempt to pull myself together, somehow.
